My Ex's Brother

My future husband, Alistair, shows me off like a prize. He smiles at another woman. Then he tells me to smile too. I tell myself it is fine. It is not. His brother, Rory, is the only one who sees me. He does not grab my arm. He just stays. When my aunt needs help, Rory makes an offer. Marry him for six months. It will save her. It may save me. I tell myself it is just a deal. His calm care feels safe. It also feels like a trap. I will not be a wife on paper. Not even for him.
