My Demon Boss

Ambrose comes through the door, sleeves rolled, jaw tight; Gwen turns to face him.

Then the door opened and Ambrose came in with his jaw set, like a man back from a fight he'd lost politely.

Ambrose

Gwen. Out.

Gwen

I was just getting to the fun part.

Synopsis

I run lost property at Bellwether Station. Keys, umbrellas, one suitcase that hums. My life is small and I like it that way. Then a man with no ticket and too many teeth wants that suitcase. He chases me through the luggage tunnels. A demon named Ambrose steps out of a staff door, saves me, and takes me under the station to his bar, The Hush. Here is the rule: I can't talk about monsters, and I can't leave until his council clears me. So I make tea, smile at things that bite, and fix the bar's terrible paperwork. My new boss glares at the coffee machine like it insulted his mother. He saved my life, so I should stop noticing his hands. Right?
