My Demon Boss

A woman runs alone down a low grey service tunnel with pipes overhead and luggage trolleys stacked against the wall.

So I ran. Not heroically. Like a woman with sensible shoes and absolutely no plan.

The luggage tunnels are porter country. Grey concrete, low roof, pipes that clank.

Synopsis

I run lost property at Bellwether Station. Keys, umbrellas, one suitcase that hums. My life is small and I like it that way. Then a man with no ticket and too many teeth wants that suitcase. He chases me through the luggage tunnels. A demon named Ambrose steps out of a staff door, saves me, and takes me under the station to his bar, The Hush. Here is the rule: I can't talk about monsters, and I can't leave until his council clears me. So I make tea, smile at things that bite, and fix the bar's terrible paperwork. My new boss glares at the coffee machine like it insulted his mother. He saved my life, so I should stop noticing his hands. Right?
