Faye sits on a café chair with a glass of water, a woman in an apron crouched beside her.

Someone called. Someone sat with me. I couldn't tell you who.

Synopsis

Faye Danner sees a woman pulled into a van outside her studio. The police find nothing. Then someone breaks into her workroom and leaves a note with her name. Her family locks down her life. Faye refuses to give up her friends, her art classes, or the small home she built. Her mother hires Gideon Slate, a cold, tattooed bodyguard who sees her as a rich girl with a problem. Gideon was paid to stand between Faye and danger. He was not paid to watch her laugh with her friends, notice her softness, or want the one thing his rules forbid. Now the threat is close, and the line between protecting her and wanting her is gone.
