Four Trustees, Their Grieving Intern (Keep It Quiet)

Four older men in expensive clothes stand together by the deep end while a broad silver-templed man in a navy suit raises a hand for quiet.

Malcolm taps his glass once, and the whole party shuts up for him.

Malcolm

Most of you know the girl with the tray. Mamie's daughter. She works this pool, and she works it for us.

Synopsis

Kira Merton is twenty-one, grieving her mother, and still a virgin. The only thing she has left is the Merrivale Lido, an old public pool with a cracked tile mosaic her mother designed. Malcolm, her stepfather, controls the trust that pays Kira. His three closest friends control everything else. 1. Her professor, Abel, corrects her work until she craves his praise. 2. The family lawyer, Cyrus, knows what her apprenticeship really costs. 3. The contractor, Baxter, watches her like he already owns her. 4. Her stepfather, Malcolm, calls her family when he means mine. Her public boyfriend Trey is the safe face she hides behind. But the four trustees share more than power. They share one rule: no one touches Kira. Every one of them is breaking it. She can keep her pride or keep their attention. She will not keep both.
